It’s absurdity. Boil down any joke and the one thing any joke has in common is some aspect of the absurd. If we couldn’t laugh at things that don’t make sense, we couldn’t react to a lot in life. If something doesn’t make sense, we don’t get upset and lash out at it until it’s correct, instead we bellow out a noise known as laughter at something we recognize as absurd.
